Browsers are the biggest target for malware and exploits.

With Microsoft Defender, software that hasn't been updated in a while will now tell you when it needs updates or update automatically, if possible.

Browsers are particularly tricky because they are running most of the time - rarely closed long enough to update on their own.

So, if you see this scary warning:

or anything like it - don't panic, that's Windows Defender catching out of date software.

Often, this is also accompanied by a notice in your tray (lower right corner)

Yes, you can click allow and the browser will launch as normal.  But, it needs your help to update so you can stop getting those warnings!
Did the message shot up and then ghost away?  You can see recent notifications by clicking on the time/date in your tray.

Top right corner of the application is the menu, three parallel lines.  Click it to see something like:

Each browser looks slightly different.  Select Help and then About.

you should see info an the browser will start to update.

Once complete, it will ask you to relaunch.

It may take several rounds of that before your browser is fully up to date.

Depending on how the browser was installed, it may require install credentials.
